Why ULV?

ULV stands for ‘ultra low volume’, i.e. ‘particularly low (application) volume’, in which smaller liquid droplets of uniform size can be produced compared to conventional spraying processes. The droplet size (or its narrow spectrum) is adapted to the area of application.

Benefit from the Mankar® advantages

Minimised herbicide consumption
Economical and environmentally friendly! (up to 80% herbicide savings)

Optimum wetting due to defined narrow droplet spectrum
Particularly efficient utilisation of the active ingredient

Less weight due to undiluted application
Less soil compaction, less back strain

Saves time
Undiluted herbicide application! No need to mix a spray mixture, no need to bring in water. Independence from the water supply

Powered by rechargeable batteries or on-board power supply (DC/DC converter)
Low energy consumption, very quiet

Optimum adaptation to a wide range of applications
Optimised sprayer precisely for YOUR area of application

Technology: SR nozzle (segment rotation nozzle)

The basis of the MANKAR® ULV spray systems is the segment rotation nozzle patented by Mantis

A pump or dosing valve feeds a defined quantity of product to the segment rotation nozzle, which produces a very narrow droplet spectrum (approx. 150 µ). The rotary nozzle does not spray all round, but only vertically downwards in a segment that can be adjusted in width. Excess product that the rotating nozzle disc distributes outside this segment is collected in the nozzle housing and returned to the rotating disc.

Herbicides can be applied undiluted with this nozzle. The droplets are emitted vertically downwards without pressure and thus reach exactly where they are needed. A spray shield also prevents drift caused by wind.

The spraying width of the nozzle can be infinitely adjusted from 10 - 55 cm, so that the sprayers can be adapted to the exact width required with one or more nozzles, depending on the area of application.

Technology: R-nozzle (rotary nozzle)

The latest generation of MANKAR nozzles, the R model, enables the economical application of biological herbicides and herbicide mixtures that need to be applied at a higher rate.

To minimise drift, the new ‘R’ nozzle is equipped with a round spray shield with a diameter of 35 cm and is available together with the MANKAR Carry and Drive devices.

Technique: Dosing:

Dosing with dosing valve

The hand-held devices (HQ) do not have a pump. Metering is carried out via a metering valve, whereby the herbicide is transported from the tank to the nozzle by gravity alone.

If a hand-held device is to be used to work over the entire area rather than just at specific points, the expected walking or travelling speed must be taken into account when setting the desired dosage. This must be maintained as precisely and evenly as possible during herbicide application in order to achieve a constant quantity per unit area and to avoid over- or underdosing in places.

Metering with a pump on the wheel

On most MANKAR®-Roll (One, Two)  and MANKAR®- Drive (Unima, Varimant) models, metering is carried out via a pump that is driven by the wheel of the spraying system. It is therefore dependent on the distance travelled (distance-dependent) and not on the speed of movement. A defined quantity of herbicide is applied with each rotation of a wheel. The application rate per unit area (litres per hectare) can therefore be precisely dosed.

The result: Optimum distribution of the active ingredient over the treated area!
The advantages are obvious:

  • No overdosing of the herbicide! Consequential damage to crops is avoided, as is unnecessary financial expenditure on herbicides.
  • No underdosing of the herbicide! No time-consuming reworking if the effect is insufficient in places.

On attachments with a wheel-driven pump, a parallelogram ensures that the wheel is in constant contact with the ground. Another advantage of this parallelogram is that it regulates the distance between the nozzles and the ground, reducing the risk of drift, for example.

Dosing with electric pump

In some MANKAR®-Drive systems, the pump is electrically driven.

If the device is to be used over the entire area, the expected walking or travelling speed must be taken into account when setting the desired dosage. This must be maintained as precisely and evenly as possible during herbicide application in order to achieve a constant quantity per unit area.

With mounted implements such as the Varimant models, this type of metering results in a lower overall weight of the implement, as the parallelogram is not required. In application areas such as steep slopes, for example, this weight saving can be decisive for the possible use of such a sprayer.

Technology: Function monitoring::

All MANKAR-HQ, MANKAR-ONE and MANKAR-TWO models are equipped with electronic battery and nozzle monitoring, with each nozzle having its own LED indicator light.
The LED lights up green when everything is working properly. If the battery needs to be recharged, the LED turns yellow. If an LED lights up red, the function of the nozzle and nozzle motor must be checked and restored if necessary. (e.g. clean the device if the nozzle disc is stuck)

Flow control:

Thanks to the flow control, the user can see whether the herbicide is actually flowing.

Technology: Flex spray screens:

The innovative Flex spraying umbrellas fold back when they come into contact with obstacles so that the spraying width is automatically adjusted if, for example, spraying is also required in the rows between the crops. The spring strength of this folding mechanism is adjustable to allow adaptation to different crops (e.g. large avenue trees or young, sensitive shrubs).

The maximum spraying width can be reduced if necessary, while retaining the folding mechanism. Alternatively, the spray shields can be fixed if the folding mechanism is undesirable.

There are three basic spray hoods, each with one nozzle and a spray width of 25, 40 or 55 cm.
On MANKAR-Roll models, these can cover total spraying widths of between 25 and 110 cm, depending on the combination and arrangement. The spray curtains are mounted either in front of or behind the wheel as required. Booms with a maximum extension width of 50 cm are also available.
With the MANKAR-Drive models, significantly larger spraying widths are also possible and the length and design of the booms can be customised according to the desired overall working width.
